Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman found probable cause yesterday to warrant the filing of charges against former police officer Victor Val B. Hocog, who was arrested last week for alleged trafficking methamphetamine or “ice” on Saipan.

Hocog is facing two counts of trafficking of controlled substance, and two counts of illegal possession of controlled substance.

The 39-year-old Hocog will be arraigned on Feb. 10.

At the preliminary hearing yesterday, police detective Jeffrey I. Norita narrated to the court how they busted Hocog on Jan. 25 and 26 in a sting operation.

Assistant attorney general James McAllister is prosecuting the case. Assistant public defender Matthew Meyer is counsel for the defendant.

Police arrested Hocog on Jan. 27. At the time, he was a police officer 1 assigned to the Patrol Section. He is being kept on a $100,000 cash bail.

He is son of Sen. Victor Hocog (R-Rota).
