2014 Summer Pre-Law Program introduced to NMC students
On Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, and Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, NMI Judiciary law clerks Claire Kelleher-Smith and Nicole M. Torres spoke with Criminal Justice majors at Northern Marianas College and invited them to apply to the Judiciary Summer Pre-law Program. The students were treated to a personal glimpse of the path to law school, the law school experience, and the variety of career opportunities available upon graduation. Torres and Kelleher-Smith shared tips for obtaining positive letters of recommendation, drafting stand-out personal statements, and preparing for standardized tests.
The eighth Summer Pre-Law Program will be held at the Guma’ Hustisia in Susupe from June 23 to July 11, 2014. The intensive program will introduce participants to legal study, and its analytical and writing demands; will prepare participants for the law school admissions process; and will connect participants to the CNMI legal community.
Individuals who are pursuing or who have obtained undergraduate or graduate degrees are qualified to apply, and should apply by April 30, 2014, as space is limited.
Applications are available at: http://www.justice.gov.mp/prelaw.aspx and at the office of the Clerk of Court at the Guma’ Hustisia. (NMI Judiciary)
