Man allegedly stole neighbor’s typhoon shutters

A man who was arrested on Jan. 15 for allegedly burglarizing two of his neighbors’ houses in Finasisu was arrested again Wednesday after investigation showed he was also the one who stole typhoon shutters from the same neighbor in November.
Pedro C. Manalo Jr., 28, was taken before Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo yesterday for bail hearing for the offense of theft.
Govendo allowed Manalo to post a $6,000 property bond.
Police detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that a police officer was dispatched on Nov. 30 to a house in Finasisu where a theft incident had been reported.
Pangelinan said the house owner reported that his 14 aluminum typhoon shutters that he bought for over $2,000 had been stolen and that he suspected his neighbor Manalo as the culprit.
The victim disclosed that Manalo previously stole his bush cutter.
Pangelinan said police arrested Manalo last Jan. 15 and on their way to the Department of Corrections, the suspect admitted stealing the shutters outside of the neighbor’s house.
Manalo told police he stole the shutters on a Saturday and sold them for not more than $30 at a recycling center.
Pangelinan said during a review of the surveillance footage at Triple Star Recycling Center in As Perdido, it appeared that Manalo came to the center last Nov. 22 on a pickup truck, where he then unloaded the shutters.
Invoices indicated that Manalo was paid $28.70.
Police first arrested Manalo on Jan. 15 after investigation showed he was allegedly responsible for burglarizing two houses of his neighbors last Oct. 16 and Dec. 23. He was identified after the neighbor caught him allegedly in the act of burglarizing the other neighbor.
