Lunar New Year destinations
The Lunar New Year is just a day away and a number of hotels have prepared lavish Chinese-styled feasts to welcome the Year of the Wooden Horse.
The Lunar New Year is an important traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the first day of the year of the Chinese calendar. In China, it is also known as the Spring Festival, the literal translation of the modern Chinese name. It is also celebrated in other Asian countries with heavy Chinese influence like Japan, Korea, the Philippines, among others, not to mention all Chinatowns scattered around the world.
Below are the venues for Lunar New Year celebrations on island.
[B]Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan[/B]Century Tours is expected to host the mother of all Lunar New Year parties when it hosts a countdown party starting tonight at its South Beach.
The Lunar New Year Countdown Party at the Garapan landmark would feature a live band, a Polynesian show, kids games, and fireworks.

[B]Hyatt Regency Saipan[/B]Hyatt Regency Saipan is welcoming the Year of the Horse with customary Chinese fare to tie in with this traditional celebration at its Miyako and Kili Café and Terrace restaurants.
On Jan. 30 and 31, from 11:30am to 2pm, the buffet at Miyako will feature Chinese-influenced dishes. The lunch buffet is priced at $35 per person; Club at the Hyatt members are welcome.
For dinner, Hyatt invites guests to savor Chinese delicacies in a buffet at Kili Café and Terrace on Jan. 30 and 31, from 6pm to 9pm. Guests can enjoy fresh noodle stations, dumplings, and even a Peking duck station while witnessing a traditional lion dance in the restaurant on Jan. 31, from 6:30pm.
The dinner buffet at Kili Café and Terrace is priced at $55 per person, $35 for Club at the Hyatt members. The buffet is inclusive of wine, beers, and iced tea.

[B]Pacific Islands Club Saipan[/B]The San Antonio hotel will be celebrating the Lunar New Year with a low key but special buffet tomorrow, Jan. 31, at its flagship Magellan Restaurant.
“We are very fortunate that on Jan. 31st our hotel is forecasting full occupancy of guest rooms. The year is starting out very well. We hope this trend will continue for all CNMI businesses,” said Vicky Benavente, PIC Saipan executive assistant.

[B]Kanoa Resort [/B]Kanoa Resort will be hosting a Chinese New Year Dinner Buffet tonight, Jan. 30, at its Isla Café.
Hotel general manager Mark Ratliff said Kanoa Resort will have a “great Chinese dinner setup” at Isla Café.
Cold appetizers include five-spices beef, chilled spicy cucumber, poached chicken with spring onions and ginger sauce. Hot entrées include fried rice with assorted seafood, steamed fish with spring onions and ginger, sautéed Chinese green vegetables, and sautéed king prawns with dry chili pepper. Fa Chai crab meat soup and sesame balls and Chinese Happy New Year cakes will also be served.
In honor of the Lunar New Year, Kanoa Resort will also have a midnight fireworks display and its Barefoot Bar will be open until 1pm. For reservations, call 234-6601.
