The U.S. Coast Guard provided ocean transportation from Guam to Saipan for 18 pallets of Humanitarian Daily Rations (HDR’s) for distribution by the CNMI Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster, or VOAD.

“We are grateful to the USCGC Sequoia and its crew for helping us provide additional food assistance to those in need here the CNMI,” said Pastor Wayne Gillespie of the Salvation Army and chairman of the local VOAD. “These food products will be given out at no cost to homeless and others who need additional food assistance.”

Several partner agencies provided help with the access and movement of these supplies from Guam, including the American Red Cross, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Defense, Triple B Forwarders, CTSI, Commonwealth Ports Authority, and Saipan Stevedore. Special thanks to Marcelo Esperon, FEMA, Distribution Center GUAM, and Roy N. Tsutsui, Joint Region Marianas.
