[B]DPS to block Marpi on Jan. 29[/B]

The Department of Public will be blocking off the northern part of the island, from Marpi north, on Jan. 29, 2014, from approximately 12pm to 3pm. The purpose of this blockage is to dispose of a significant collection of unexploded ordnance that has been collected by the department’s explosive response team. DPS is requesting all visitors to these popular areas of the island to make arrangements to visit either in the morning before the 12pm deadline or after the operation is completed at 3pm. [B]Hopwood PTSA meeting on Thursday[/B]

Hopwood Jr. High School will have a PTSA meeting on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, starting at 6pm in the school cafeteria. We urge and highly encouraged everyone to come and attend our meeting and help us as we plan our school fundraising activities so the school can use the funds to help support with the need of the school’s daily operation or emergencies, share great ideas for school improvement, and provide some instructional strategies to our parents so they too can be of support to their children’s learning on way or another.

Also, the PTSA is going to be handing out 10 great raffle prizes provided by some of Hopwood’s community partners. [B][I](PR)
[/I] House committee sets public hearing
[/B] The House Standing Committee on Education is inviting the general public of Saipan to a public hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014 at 6pm at the Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. The purpose of this public hearing will be to discuss HLI 18-007, which proposes to amend Article 15, Section 2 of the CNMI Constitution to authorize the election of the members of the Northern Marianas College Board of Regents. The following witnesses are requested to be present and provide written comments prior to the public hearing: NMC Board of Regents, NMC president, PSS commissioner, and high school principals

Air Force, Navy training on FDM, Warning Area 517[/B]

SANTA RITA, Guam—The U.S. Air Force will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla from Jan. 13 to Jan. 16, from 9pm to 11:55pm

The U.S. Navy will conduct training at Warning Area 517 during the following times:
Jan. 15 from 9am to 7pm

The general public—especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators—are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.

The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants.

W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. This will affect fishing in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank. [B][I](PR)[/I]

MHS PTA meeting on Thursday[/B]

All Marianas High School parents, guardians, and students are urged to attend the MHS PTA meeting this Thursday, Jan. 16, at 6pm in the MHS Dolphin Theatre. We will get an update of MHS administration and programs, student council and elect a new treasurer. [B][I](MHS)[/I]

UOG spring registration ongoing
[/B] Registration for the spring 2014 semester at the University of Guam is ongoing. All students may register for spring 2014 until Jan. 17 at the Admissions & Records office located on the first floor of the UOG Field House, at UOG Satellite Offices, and online using WebAdvisor (www.uog.edu). Late registration will be held Jan. 17, 18 (WebAdvisor only), and 21.
