The 2014 Pusong Pinoy celebration on Feb. 16 will have Docomo Pacific as its major sponsor after the telecommunications company donated $5,000 to the United Filipino Organization last month.

UFO president Annamae Adaza again thanked Docomo and its general manager, James Nelson, for the generous cash donation to the group.

“Once again, Docomo Pacific is the major sponsor of 2014 UFO Pusong Pinoy. It’s the third year that we will celebrate the month of hearts but this time we involve the kids by having the Little Miss Pusong Pinoy beauty pageant. It’s not a money contest; they are all competing based on beauty and brains,” she said.

UFO has also finalized the venue for the 2014 Little Miss Pusong Pinoy after the group chose the Royal Taga Hall of the Saipan World Resort to host the pageant, also on Feb. 16, from 6pm to 10pm.

“World Resort is a good venue since we needed a bigger place for the pageant. It’s also good

timing that Monday is a holiday [President’s Day].”

A total of 20 candidates will be vying for the 2014 Little Miss Pusong Pinoy tiara. The competition is open to girls 6-9 years old with at least one parent who is 100-percent Filipino.

While the original deadline for applicants for the pageant is Jan. 15, Adaza said they cut short its duration because they already reached their full complement of 20 candidates.

Candidates will be competing for Best in Talent and Best in Evening Gown. Special awards include Miss Photogenic, Star of the Night, Miss Congeniality, and Darling of the Crowd.

Prizes at stake are $800 for first place, $500 for second place, $300 for third place, and $100 for fourth place. All candidates will also receive certificates of participation and gift packs.

Adaza said UFO will be assessing a $1 entrance fee for the 2014 Little Miss Pusong Pinoy, which entitles ticket-holders to join a raffle. She assured that everyone will go home with a prize from the raffle.

UFO is still looking for more donors and sponsors. For more details, call or text Adaza at 483-5237, UFO secretary Mario Mayuga at 285-1021, event director Ernie Molina at 789-8212, or Ester Sablan at 789-5553.
