DOJ gives GovGuam $659,856 for violence vs women programs

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Guam DelegateMadeleine Z. Bordallo announced yesterday that the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded the Government of Guam $659,856 in federal financial assistance.

The federal funds received will be administered by the Office of the Governor and distributed, based on statutorily established proportions, to government and nonprofit stakeholders as part of the STOP Violence Against Women Formula Grant.

The STOP Program encourages the development and implementation of effective, victim centered law enforcement, prosecution, and court strategies to address violent crimes against women and the development and enhancement of victim services in cases involving crimes against women. The program promotes partnerships between law enforcement, prosecution, courts, and victim services organizations to enhance victim safety and hold offenders accountable for crimes against women.
