Former Commonwealth Ports Authority manager for Rota, Thomas A. Manglona, said he is running for a House of Representatives seat representing Rota in the 2014 general elections.

As of yesterday, Manglona has yet to choose the political party he will be a part of.

“I have been thinking about running for office for the longest time. I want to contribute more to the island of Rota. These are very challenging times and I really want to offer my help,” Manglona told Saipan Tribune in a phone interview.

Thomas Manglona, the youngest brother of Sen. Paul A. Manglona (Ind-Rota), was terminated from his post as CPA Rota manager in April 2012. He officially vacated his post on May 9 of that year.

Thomas Manglona’s campaign manager is Vianney B. Hocog, the brother of Senate vice president Victor Hocog (R-Rota).

“It is time to remove the political divide and to come together to work for the people,” Hocog separately said.

Rep. Teresita Santos (R-Rota) is also seeking re-election and so far, her known opponent is Thomas Manglona.

Sen. Paul Manglona, who returned to the Senate after a Supreme Court ruling on vacancy appointment on the heels of former senator Juan Ayuyu’s conviction over fruit bat smuggling, is also reportedly running in November 2014.

Also seeking re-election is Sen. Jovita Taimanao (Ind-Rota).
