Land and Sand Hat Tournament this weekend

Saipan Ultimate will be having an ultimate frisbee tournament called the Land and Sand Hat Tournament on Dec. 7 and 8.
The land portion of this tournament will be held at Hopwood Junior High School Field on Dec. 7 starting at 8:30am, and the sand portion will be played at Fiesta Beach in Garapan on Dec. 8 starting at 10am.
This tournament is to encourage newcomers to learn more about the game of Ultimate Frisbee, improve your skills, and play a fun, competitive game. It is also an opportunity to play with off-island players (multiple players are coming from Guam and beyond).
This is a “hat” tournament. Teams will be picked from several hats. Players will rank themselves based on experience and athleticism. Each hat will have players with similar experience/athleticism. Each team will have several players from each hat or level. This is to encourage evenly matched teams and that everyone from seasoned veterans to newcomers will have a good time.
The tournament will have some excellent sponsors including MarPac, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, Delta Management Corp., The Shack, Fiesta Resort and Spa, Athlete’s Foot, Hyatt, Charcoal BBQ, Godfather’s, Xerox, Wild Bill’s, Marianas Visitors Authority, and IT&E. There will be prizes for the winning and most spirited teams as well as individual awards for MVP (most valuable player), MFP (most fun player), and possibly others.
This cost of the tournament is $25 which includes a custom designed Saipan Ultimate disc, breakfast snacks, lunch both days (purchased from Subway, Charcoal BBQ, and Tropical Blends), a party for participants both nights, and two awesome days of Ultimate Frisbee.
