Stop playing the race card on locals

I notice a growing use of the race card on the citizenship for the alien workers issue but they have no idea what they are talking about. FYI for the promoters of the race card, the issue of citizenship for the alien workforce is not about ethnicity but nationality, which makes all these racist arguments sound stupid to educated people who know the difference. It should also be noted that the Filipinos are not the only alien workers and it seems the people promoting the race card don’t realize that this is not about Filipinos alone but all alien workers. Most of the alien workforce is Filipino, which is why I referred to them but the point is this is about a fight to control political power, not discrimination based on race.

The real sticking point is the large number of alien workers that outnumber the local population. I’m sure if this was about a few hundred people there may not be any opposition. But the local people would be foolish to sit still and watch a group of people who are not Americans become Americans virtually overnight that will give them the political majority. In fact, it is the right of locals to protect their sovereignty over local government, a right that our delegate needs to get Congress to acknowledge and reciprocate with the appropriate changes in the bill.

All this talk about breaking up homes and marriages is a lot of BS, as any spouse and children of an American will never have a problem remaining in the CNMI unless they are a threat to public safety. Saying the CNMI is not like Fiji is a another disconnect because that is exactly what we have in foreign laborers from other nations with different languages and cultures that is about to gain political power and possible control. Where is the discrimination? How are they being discriminated against? Who is doing the discriminating and what right do they have to become U.S. citizens? The racism promoters can’t answer these tough questions so playing the race card to make people feel sorry or bad is their only approach to fight this but it does not work because race is not the issue.

The local people are not violating any principle or value by invoking their right to maintain and protect their political control over the CNMI from members of another nation of people. So you can stop playing your race card on people because this is about a right to American nationality, not racial injustice. This is a simple battle to maintain U.S. nationality control over our government, which includes all U.S. citizens in the CNMI regardless of their race before it is gift-wrapped and given to citizens of other nations.
