Women age 40 and above who sign up for mammograms or women age 21 and older who sign up for clinical breast exams at tomorrow’s free screenings and referrals will receive gift certificates for fresh fruits and vegetables.

A collaboration between the Commonwealth Cancer Association and the Department of Public Health, the free screenings and referrals will be held from 6am to 11am at the Sabalu Market in Susupe.

Tatiana Olopai, CCA project assistant for breast and cervical health outreach program, said the event aims to promote breast and cervical health and wellness in the community with the assistance of DPH staff and members of the CNMI-wide subgroup of CCA volunteers.

Saturday’s event involves blood pressure checks; body mass index calculations; blood sugar checks for the first 100 women; clinical breast exams at the DPH mobile clinic; enrollment/referrals for mammograms for women age 40 and above through the Breast & Cervical Screening Program; information about healthy nutrition, physical activity and body weight guidelines, and ways to improve quality of life and reduce cancer risk; and HIV screening.

“Join us this Saturday and help spread the word to all the special women in your life,” Olopai said.
