Lots of great prizes and fun activities are in store at the 23rd Annual American Red Cross Club 200 slated for Saturday at the Fiesta Resort and Spa in Garapan.
John Hirsh, American Red Cross NMI Chapter executive director, said that besides the $15,000 cash prize donated by Bank of Guam and the 2011 Ford Fiesta donated by the Joeten Charitable Foundations, there are a number of major prizes up for grabs for their biggest annual fundraising event.
“Although corporate donations have fallen off a little bit this year due to our economic conditions, our ticket sales and in-kind donations are as strong as it’s ever been,” Hirsh told Saipan Tribune.
Hirsh said major prizes include 14 airline tickets donated by airline companies. Delta Air Lines donated two round-trip tickets to anywhere in the U.S. mainland and four round-trip tickets to Japan. Fly Guam contributed two round-trip tickets to Guam and another two to Hong Kong. Continental Airlines donated four round-trip tickets to anywhere in Asia where they have flights.
This year’s raffle draw will also give away a year’s worth of gasoline courtesy of Mobil. IT&E and Docomo Pacific also donated cellular phone packages, which will be raffled off at the event.
Ticket buyers for this year’s Club 200 can also check in at the Fiesta Resort and Spa on the night of the event and avail of the hotel’s affordable $70 room rate.
Club 200 tickets cost $100 each.
Saturday’s event, Hirsh said, will feature live entertainment from local bands Afetnas Regime and Latte Vibes. DJ Jojo Camacho, who is now based in Guam, will fly to Saipan for the Club 200.
Hirsh added that they will hold a limbo and regular dance contests as well as a costume contest based on this year’s theme, “Fantasy Island.”
With only a few days before the much-awaited fundraising event, Hirsh said they expect a surge in their ticket sales despite the recession that’s affecting the entire community.
“Part of it is that people trust the Red Cross and they think what we do is good. That’s the bottom line,” he said.
