Businesses support PDM cleanup
The non-profit PDM Promoters, Inc. held its regular cleanup in the island’s tourist district last Saturday by picking up trash along Coral Tree Avenue to the Garapan Fire Station along Beach Road up to the Joeten Hafa Adai Center area.
Other businesses in Garapan showed support for the monthly cleanup by cleaning the frontage of their respective establishments.
“It’s nice to see that some of them cooperate with us in taking care of their own trash,” said Sonia Siwa of PDM Promoters, referring to the other businesses in the Garapan area.
Siwa said that Saturday’s volunteers were composed of 13 staff of Kinpachi Restaurant and about 27 current members, graduates, and family members of the Saipan Awaodori Team.
The volunteers collected a total of 720 lbs of trash, half of which came from the trash bins that were filled to overflowing, noted Siwa.
She said they are always saddened by the trash problem along Paseo de Marianas, especially because some of the trash are actually household trash.
She thanked those who support the PDM Promoters monthly cleanup by providing supplies and refreshments.
