Chamber raises $6K-plus in Corporate Challenge
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce declared the 2012 SCC Corporate Challenge a huge success, as over $6,000 was raised toward the Chamber’s 2013 college scholarship program.
Right on the heels of the Chamber awarding five Saipan high school students $2,000 each for their college educations at the Chamber’s July 6 general membership meeting, 23 Chamber member companies pledged $300 each and vied for bragging rights on the softball field Saturday from 8am to 8pm.
Over 400 Chamber team players, employees, their families and friends watched games from the bleachers, from under tents and along the roadside at the Capital Hill softball field as ASC Trust Corp. defeated Take Care Insurance, Inc. 7-6 to claim this year’s Corporate Challenge. ASC and Take Care received their first and second place trophies respectively at a ceremony held immediately following the games. Coca Cola/Glimpses received the SCC Team Spirit Award for the second consecutive year.
This year’s Corporate Challenge continued its tradition of providing fun, games, sizzling barbecue, corporate displays, music, a company outing opportunity and worn out team players by day’s end.
Those companies contributing $300 each and gaining entry into the single elimination softball tournament were Microl Corp., Triple J Saipan Ent., IT&E, DFS Galleria, ASC Trust Corp., CNMI Commerce-SBDC, Bank of Guam, G4S Security, Delta Management, Asian Pacific Hotels, Inc., Pacific Trading Co., First Hawaiian Bank, CUC, D&Q Saipan, Coca Cola/Glimpses, JC Tenorio Ent., Take Care Insurance, Xerox Corp., CNMI Cable Vision LLC, Marpac, IP&E and Saipan Shipping Co. and Pacific Islands Club.
The Chamber gives special thanks to firms supplying trophies (Tan Holdings), electricity for the ball field (CUC), Coca Cola for beverages for the players, KKMP for the PA system, MCV for prizes, IP&E for prizes, PIC for water park passes, PTC for gift certificates, Take Care for prizes, Marpac for prizes, IT&E for giveaways, Marfega Trading for prizes and the Chamolinian Soft Ball Association for umpiring and maintaining the field.
