NMC burglarized; three laptops, one projector stolen
The Northern Marianas College’s Adult Basic Education office in As Terlaje was burglarized over the weekend and three laptops and one projector worth over $4,500 were reported stolen.
Police spokesman Jason Tarkong said yesterday that the NMI Crime Stoppers Program is seeking the public’s help for information about the burglary and theft incident.
NMC president Sharon Hart said they are cooperating with the Department of Public Safety as it conducts a thorough investigation of the matter.
Tarkong said that NMC employees discovered the burglary on Monday at 8am after noticing the broken door to the Adult Basic Education office.
Tarkong said the stolen items—three Sony Viao laptops and one projector—were last seen on Friday, June 2, at the end of the workday.
The crime, however, occurred sometime over the weekend, said Tarkong, who is also the coordinator for the NMI Crime Stoppers Program.
Hart said that an inventory of equipment and supplies is being conducted to fully determine if other items may have been taken.
Hart reminded all employees to ensure that they are taking extra precautionary measures to prevent theft and vandalism on the campus.
“It is too premature to provide further comment while the investigation is underway,” the NMC president said. “However, we strongly encourage anyone who has any information that may help with the investigation to contact the police immediately.”
