Ben Aldan won the Saipan Golfers Association May Ace of the Month Tournament after firing a net score of 64 last May 20 at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort east course.

Aldan beat out a strong field of 23 players to join Bob Magofna (January), Juan L. Babauta (February), Das Krishnan (March), and Art Deleon Guerrero (April) as the early qualifiers of SGA’s Ace of Aces season-ending tournament.

He carded the best score for the May tourney after firing a 44 in the front and back. Along the way, Aldan won two closest-to-the-pin in holes No. 11 and 15.

Netting a 66, Babauta placed second with a longest drive in hole No. 5 to go along with three birdies.

Juan Lizama and Adam Hardwicke finished tied for third with their identical net scores of 70. The former secured third place after birdying the lowest handicap hole, while newcomer Hardwicke bogeyed it.

Hardwicke didn’t go home empty-handed though as the chief public defender took closest-to-the-pin in hole No. 4 and caught two birdies as well.

Also taking part in the May affair were Larry Deleon Guerrero (net score of 72, longest drive in hole No. 10 and one birdie), Ned Norita (73, two birdies, and closest-to-the-pin in hole No. 6), Frank Castro, Rick Kautz (one birdie), Ray San Nicolas (four birdies), Ray Dela Cruz (one birdie), Art Deleon Guerrero and Frances Sablan (all tied with net scores of 74), Edward Sablan (net score 75), Jung Eun Taeck (net score 77), Frankie Pangelinan and Mariano Fajardo (1 birdie) both had net scores of 78, Tony Deleon Guerrero, Steve Balakrishna (two birdies), and Martin Sablan (all had net scores of 80), Nick Sablan (net score 81 and two birdies), Das Krishnan (net score 83), and Juan “Pan” Guerrero (net score 94).

SGA’s June Ace of the Month is tentatively scheduled on June 17 at the Coral Ocean Point Golf Resort. Show and tee time will be announced later. (Saipan Tribune)
