Top Shot Playstation opens in Sadog Tasi
A group just shy of 30 people gathered at the end of Sadog Tasi Drive on Friday for the grand opening of Saipan’s newest paintball facility, Top Shot Play-Station.
Reps. Ray Tebuteb and Edmund Villagomez and former Commerce secretary Sixto Igisomar were present for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, which was followed by a prayer blessing by Father Ryan Jimenez. A food and drink reception came next before those in attendance celebrated by letting off some paintballs on the target range.
Paintball has been an on-again, off-again sport on Saipan, but some former Saipan Paintball Association players have preserved the interest in the sport and even picked up some other independent players over time who all still enjoy some grassroots backyard “woodsball” every now and again.
Independent players have been known to use the old radar tower in As Matuis and Pacific Islands Club offers laser tag, but Top Shot Play-Station specializes in providing an authentic paintball experience to players of all experience levels in a safe environment.
“Paintball is much more than just playing army with a gun in the jungle, it helps develop teamwork, marksmanship, sportsmanship, gun safety, in addition to promoting exercise and a healthy lifestyle in a competitive forum.
The activities are well supervised to endure everyone’s safety and we believe it is a whole lot of fun even for first-timers,” said Top Shot’s Keoni Hosono in an interview on Saturday.
The idea to create the Top Shot came in January of this year and it did not take long for the partnering Hosono and Limes families to make the vision a reality.
They are currently working to collaborate with various tourist agencies and even have ambitions to work with the Department of Public Safety’s TRET tactical team and even offer a safe haven after school program for youths in the future.
Top Shot offers a new experience to tourists at reasonable rates and presents even better local prices, which includes being suited up, locked and loaded for only $10 to $20 depending on what type of equipment and ammo chosen from an assortment of choices.
Patrons can start out popping a few rounds off at their target range, which includes a variety of different objects placed at varying distances, or jump into the War Zone for some full out five-on-five combat.
Top Shot uses Tipman 98 custom guns and have a wardrobe of protective equipment.
If you already have your gun and gear, then the entrance fee into the War Zone is only $10. The shop also offers 100 paintballs for just $5.
All patrons must first sign required safety waivers before partaking in any action.
Top Shot Playstation is located at the end of Sadog Tasi Drive. Hours of operation run from 8am to 5pm, seven days a week. Contact 323-3333 for more information.
