MPU Silver extends streak
MP United Silver stretched its winning run to seven after showing no love lost to sister team MP United Blue during their second meeting in the boys U15 division of the 2012 NMIFA Youth Spring League last Saturday at the Oleai Sports Complex.
MPU Silver cruised to a 13-0 victory over MPU Blue, duplicating its first-round rout of the latter to improve to a 7-0-0 win-draw-loss record in the six-team field. MPU Blue absorbed its sixth loss, as the first win of the season remained elusive.
Ryota Ito led MPU Silver’s lopsided victory as he scored four goals, while Jehn Joyner and John Taisacan added three each. Jordan Butcher-Wade also hit the scoreboard for MPU Silver.
[B]Shirley’s FC 3, Tan Holdings FC 1[/B]In the first game in Week 7 of the youth league, Shirley’s FC edged Tan Holding’s.
The victory was second in seven games for Shirley’s FC, moving the team up to fourth place. Tan Holdings dropped to a 1-1-5 record and was dislodged from fourth to fifth spot.
Kyle Siscar broke the ice for Shirley’s FC midway in the first half, while Saixiah Bagsic also scored in the opening frame for their 2-0 halftime lead.
A goal from Jeremie Tanghal early in the second half moved Tan Holding’s within one, however Edward Cordero answered a few minutes later to seal the win.
[B]Paire 3, Matansa 3[/B]The third game of the weekend between Paire and Matansa resulted in a draw.
Ryu Tanzawa made the equalizer for Matansa in the 61st minute, while Sean Perez drilled a pair to keep his team in third place with its 4-2-1 card.
Paire, which led at the break, 2-1, also retained the No. 2 spot with its 5-1-1 slate. Scott Kim put Paire in the scoreboard just five minutes into the first half and then had another goal in the 27th for their 2-0 lead.
After being scoreless for more than 30 minutes, Perez ended the drought with his first goal, seven minutes before the first half buzzer sounded.
In the second half, Jeff Cheon started things out for Paire with his goal in the 46th minute for their 3-1 lead, but Matansa refused to give up, as Perez nailed his second one in the 49th off a penalty kick and Tanzawa also scored 12 minutes later.
