Hart to appeal to board on CFAO position
Northern Marianas College president Sharon Y. Hart will cite the college’s budget constraints in her appeal to the Board of Regents to reconsider its earlier decision to reinstate and hire a chief financial administrative officer for the institution.
Hart told Saipan Tribune during the celebration of Tan Holdings’ 40th Anniversary at Saipan Grand Hotel Tuesday that a meeting is temporarily scheduled next week where CFAO position will be discussed.
“In my opinion, we have numerous individuals who are always doing that responsibility internally. Because of the college’s difficult financial situation, I would be bringing that up to the board for discussion in the next meeting,” she said.
Hart said she’s counting on the capability of newly appointed dean of administration Dave Attao, who also oversees the CFAO and fiscal and budget operations.
In a board meeting in February, the Board of Regents favored the reinstatement of the CFAO position, citing its critical role in meeting accreditation requirements. Prior to this meeting, the CFAO position was dissolved and the dean of administration post was created in its place.
