The Rookies finally broke into the win column after pulling off an upset over Enamo Meta, 13-11, during last week’s women’s game in the Chamolinian Softball Association 2012 Budweiser Slow-Pitch League at the Capital Hill Ballfield.

Enamo Meta overcame an early 1-4 deficit in the opening frame and moved in front, 6-4, in the bottom of the second inning primarily off errors.

The Rookies cleaned up their game from the batters box and cranked out five hits in the top of the third to shoot ahead, 10-7. Nadine Camacho busted a two-RBI double and Connie Lizama bagged an RBI single. The Rookies added a run off a fielder’s choice in the fourth and each team mustered a run in the fifth, shifting the count to, 12-8, heading into the final stand.

Enamo Meta loaded the bases with two outs, but the Rookies held strong for the win.

Meanwhile, a couple of nail-biters stood out in this week’s men’s pairings as Six Pack escaped past Berdax, 24-23, last Monday and Elias barely got away from the G-Ballers, 14-13, last Wednesday.

In other results, Natibu defeated Talu Fahn, 19-8, while X-cluisve downed Familia, 23-13, and Man Amigos spanked SaiPal, 19-4. Man Amigos (4-0) and Natibu (5-0), are at the helm again this year and remain the only undefeated teams in the men’s field.

Behind them are the Manelos (3-1), Your Balls (3-1), Berdax (3-2), Gagu Eyez (3-2), Elias (2-1), X-clusive (3-3), Six Pack (2-2), Familia (2-3), G-Ballers (2-3), SaiPal (2-4), The Warriors (1-3), Talu Fahn (1-5) and Managaha (0-5).

Check It Out has extended its streak to four and leads the women’s field by two games. The defending champion Sakudi is in second place with an even 2-2 record, while the 670 Babes (1-2), Rookies, and Enamo Meta (1-3) all still within range.

Six Pack 24, Berdax 23

Six Pack managed a 7-1 lead through three frames, however Berdex threatened, 14-15, after the fourth inning.

Berdax cranked out 12 hits including a pair of home runs by Franco Flores and Alingmar Ogumoro, but Six Pack maintained the slight edge with eight runs off six hits in the bottom frame. Tom Joab smashed a two-RBI base hit, Melvin Aldan and DJ Omar bagged RBI singles, and Lucian George had RBI double.

Six Pack remained in front, 19-17, in the fifth off another six hits, before Berdax responded with six runs in the top of the seventh off a pair of two-RBIs singles by Jack Guerrero and Chad Atalig. However, Six Pack bit down with two outs in the bottom frame to pull out the win.
Natibu 18, Talu Fahn 9

Natibu went ahead 12-4, but Talu Fahn did not go away and was still in the game, 8-14, after the fourth inning.

Then two leadoff walks set up a pair of RBI singles from Bruce Norita and Oscar Secharmedal and a two-RBI double from Aaron Benavente to give Natibu more distance. The other runs came in off a base smash by JR Suel and errors.

Talu Fahn’s offense dwindled in the late innings as it only managed one run to start the fifth, while Natibu added four more runs in the bottom frame from a double by Jerry Guerrero, a two-run blast by Jess Tagabuel and a sacrifice fly by Victor Salas.

Elias 14, G-Ballers 13

Elias went ahead, 3-2, off a sacrifice fly by Rodney Camacho in the bottom of the second inning. Each team had a two-run homer early in the match.

The G-Ballers claimed he lead, 6-3, in the top of the third inning off a three-run blast by Paul Salalila and an error. Then the count shifted to 12-6, still for G-Ballers, as both teams put up six runs in the fourth inning.

Elias roared back to within a run in the bottom of the fifth with six hits, including an RBI single by Ben Tagabuel, a three-run homer by Glenn Camacho and a solo shot by JP Sablan. As the G-Ballers engine stalled for the second time in a row, Elias snuck in front, 13-12, in the sixth off an error and a sacrifice fly by Jordan Tagabuel.

The G-Ballers’ Salalila tied the match with one swing in the top of the seventh inning, but Elias was gifted the win off an error early in the bottom frame.
X-clusive 23, Familia 13

X-clusive built an early 3-1 edge in the first frame off a pair of long balls by Jack Delos Santos and Vince Cepeda and jumped further ahead, 10-3, in the bottom of the second off five hits. McQueen Masaharu hit two-RBI single, Ben Sablan had an RBI base knock, and Mike Manas made a grand slam.

The count shifted to 12-8, in the third after a pair of two-RBI smashes by Familia’s Shaun Iguel and Lawrence Dikito. X-clusive’s runs came from a pair of RBI singles by John Acosta and Masaharu in the bottom frame.

X-clusive remained in control, 16-10, after the fourth frame with another five hits in the bottom half of the inning. Familia managed a couple runs via sacrifice flies, while X-clusives’ Cepeda nailed a two-RBI single before being driven home by Dennis Ngeskebei. Familia’s Kolin Reyes left the yard for three runs to start the fifth, but X-clusive produced the seven runs needed for the early decision in the bottom frame.

Man Amigos 19, SaiPal 4

Man Amigos put up eight runs as they batted through the lineup in the first inning. Manny Sablan bashed a three-run homer and Jeff Cabrera hammered a two-run shot.

They then catapulted ahead, 19-0, in the top of the second doff another dozen hits and a sacrifice fly by Eric Palacios. Jerry Ayuyu ripped an RBI triple, Sablan, Ben Jones, John Terlaje, and Vinnie Sablan bagged RBI singles, and Manny Sablan lifted another three-run bomb late in the onslaught.

SaiPal mustered its four runs in the bottom frame before Man Amigos closed shop three innings early.
