Zoning Board officers will continue to serve under the same capacity after deciding to maintain the status quo during Wednesday’s meeting at the Zoning Office.

The officers are chair Diego C. Blanco, vice chair Joe T Limes, secretary Ed Arriola, Jr., and treasurer Alice S. Igitol.

Except for Arriola, all three were present at the meeting, along with board member Herman P. Sablan.

Legal counsel Kate Fuller noted at the meeting that the election of officers should have been conducted last December.

The board maintained that all officers are doing their jobs well, making them deserving to continue to hold on to their positions.

“Thank you very much for your vote of confidence,” added Blanco.

The board is now working on getting their proposed amendments for the Saipan Zoning Law of 2008 approved.

Gov. Benigno R. Fitial vetoed last March 22 House Local Bill 17-26, authored by Rep. Stanley Torres. That bill sought to make massive changes in the law that were inconsistent with sound zoning principles, according to the Zoning board and office.
