Democratic Party elects Manibusan as chair of Central Executive Committee
In their first meeting of the year, the Democratic Party of the Northern Marianas elected retired judge Edward Manibusan as head of its Central Executive Committee.
In accepting the position, Manibusan said: “This is the revival of the Democratic Party of the Northern Marianas. It is time to give our people a new voice, a voice that will truly represent us in the Legislature, in the Executive Branch, and Washington. Our Commonwealth is broken and we need to rebuild it. Our people have suffered long enough in the hands of failed leadership.”
Manibusan’s priority is to recruit from the communities of Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and the Northern Islands. The Central Executive Committee is also reviewing its platform and hopes to issue the party’s platform at the general membership meeting to be called in the near future.
“Our party is the peoples’ party. We will work hard to make our Commonwealth the best place to live, work or visit. We will ensure that every citizen is given the opportunity to participate in the economic, social and general well-being of our Commonwealth. Our members will campaign based on our platform and will hold our members responsible for implementing them,” said Manibusan.
The committee is also reviewing its finances, which it believes is fundamental to a successful organization. Manibusan said that the party will hold membership drives, meetings, and fundraising events where people in the community can share their concerns with members of the party.
Manibusan invites every one from Saipan, Tinian, Rota and Northern Islands to join the Democratic Party of the Northern Marianas. If you wish to join, contact 235-6520, 483-7934 weekdays between 4-6pm. (Democratic Party)
