Frontrunners remain unscathed in CSA
Men’s division’s Man Amigos and Natibu remain undefeated after this week’s Chamolinian Softball Association 2012 Budweiser Softball League matches held at the Capitol Hill Ballfield.
Natibu soundly defeated Xclusive (2-2), 18-8, for its fourth win on Wednesday, Man Amigos skunked G-Ballers (2-2), 17-0, for its third consecutive victory back on Monday.
In other results, Ur Balls (3-1) defeated the Warriors (1-3), 15-11, and Manelos (3-1) routed Talu Fahn (1-4), 21-9, on Wednesday, while on Monday Elias (1-1) survived Six Pack (1-2), 10-8, and women division’s 670 Babes (1-2) downed the Rookies (0-2), 9-3, to notch its first win of the season.
The rest of the men’s field include Berdax (2-1), Gagu Eyes (2-2), Saipal (2-2), Familia (2-2), and Managaha (0-4).
The women’s standings, meanwhile, have Check It Out (3-0) lording it over the three-team division against Sakudi (2-2) and Enamo Meta (1-1) .
[B]Ur Balls 15, Warriors 11[/B]Ur Balls’ Byron Kaipat bludgeoned a two-run homer in the first inning complemented by a pair of solo blasts from Audie Maratita and Kyle Kaipat.
The Warriors came back to tie the match at 4-all with home runs by Marley and Sidney (three RBIs) in the top of the second, but Ur Balls obliged with five more runs off six hits in the bottom frame; Kaipat hit a two-RBI single, Shane Igisiar an RBI double, and Norman Angui and Maratita had RBI singles.
The count shifted to 10-7 after three frames and Warriors’ Mike Pangelinan added a run with a long ball to start the fourth, but Ur Balls’ Byron Kaipat jacked a three-run homer in the bottom half to help keep his team in front, 14-8. Another run came home from a sacrifice fly.
Ur Balls contained the Warriors to just three runs in the fifth and held strong in the final stand.
[B]Natibu 18, X-clusive 8[/B]Natibu tallied six runs off six hits in the first inning for a promising, 6-0, lead. J.R. Suel cranked a two-run home run Jerry Guerrero and Bruce Norita bagged RBI singles and Ned Norita lifted a sacrifice fly.
X-clusive mustered its first run in the bottom of the third frame, but Natibu nailed up six more runs to start the fourth off another six hits. Bruce Norita hit an RBI smash and Ned Norita left the yard for three runs.
They then tacked on another four runs in the fifth as Bruce Norita belted a grand slam into the trees. Ken Kalen also busted a two-RBI double in the sixth inning.
X-clusive manufactured six runs in the bottom frame, but it was too little too late as Natibu kept its run-rule margin intact.
[B]Manelos 21, Talu Fahn 9[/B]Manelos built a 5-1 edge after the first inning off a two-run homer by Angel Reyes and errors.
The count shifted to 7-2 off another error and an RBI single by Reyes in the second inning.
After a quiet third frame, Manelos added another run, but Talu Fahn roared back to within a run, 7-8, off six hits and a pair of fielder’s choices in the top of the fourth inning. Stanley Aldan and Nathan Bermudes bagged RBI singles and Bill Aguon a two-RBI base smash; the other run came from a walk.
However, Manelos jolted ahead with 10 runs off 10 hits to start the fifth inning. Pat Alepuyo led off with a solo homer, Reyes and Pete Tomokane busted RBI doubles, Nicko Martin bashed a two-run blast, followed by a triple and a double by Shane Mendiola and Derrick Aughenbaugh.
Talu Fahn responded with just one run and the Manelos went on to add three runs to earn the nod.
[B]670 Babes 9, Rookies 3[/B]670 Babes moved ahead, 4-1, with three runs in the third inning off an error and an RBI single by Mel Benjamin who made it all the way around off a wild throw.
670 Babes broke the ice off an error in the second frame and the Rookies managed two runs from errors in the top half of the third.
670 Babes added two more runs in the fourth inning off another error and a fielder’s choice before sealing the deal with three runs allowed by some extra throws in the sixth inning.
Defense played a key role in the match as the 670 Babes drew five walks in the game, but were out hit, 4-9, by the Rookies.
[B]Man Amigos 17, G-Ballers 0[/B]Man Amigos exploded out of the gate with 12 runs in the first inning off eight hits.
Jerry Ayuyu lifted a sacrifice fly, Julian Camacho bagged an RBI single, Peter Sablan, Ben Jones, and James Fleming delivered two-RBI singles, and Roy Celis capped it off with a three-run bomb; one other run came from an error.
G-Ballers swung under the ball in the bottom frame and Man Amigos added four runs in the second inning from a base hit by Jess Guerrero and a three-run homer by Jones.
G-Ballers left runners on the corners in the bottom half and Man Amigos’ Ayuyu hammered a solo shot in the top half of the third before securing the early decision. All 12 Man Amigos scored. Celis, Sablan, Carl Hocog, Guerrero, and Jones all touched the plate twice.
Winning pitcher John Terlaje allowed just two hits and one walk through four scoreless innings.
[B]Elias 10, Six Pack 8[/B]Elias worked out an early 2-1 lead in the opening frame from a leadoff homer by Mike Cruz and a RBI base knock by Jordan Tagabuel.
Six Pack briefly took control, 3-2, in the second inning from a two-RBI double by Robert Repeki and added another in the top of the third off base smash by D.J. Omar, but Elias reclaimed the lead, 7-4, in the bottom frame with a couple of long balls by Tagabuel (three runs) and Myron Sablan (two runs).
Then the count shifted to 9-6 as both teams added a pair of runs in the fourth inning.
Six Pack scratched and clawed to get back in the game and managed runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but Elias held on strong for the win.
Elias’ Cruz batted 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.
