SSHS sinks MHS Awesome Fins in MISO boys volleyball

(Walter Sutherland) Saipan Southern High School swept Marianas High School’s Awesome Fins, in Wednesday’s Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization boys volleyball matchup at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

The SSHS Manta Rays took control early and won the first set, 25-15, and kept it rolling through the second set, 25-20, for the automatic victory. It went to on win the third set, 15-13, to prove the triumph was no fluke.

SSHS improved its win-loss record to 2-1, while the Awesome Fins evened out its card to 2-2.

Meanwhile, frontrunner Saipan International School remains flawless after improving to 4-0. The SIS Geckos downed winless Kagman (0-3) in three sets, 25-13, 25-12, and 15-13.

Grace Christian Academy is keeping stride with the current leader, and improved its unbeaten streak to three after defeating the MHS Qts (1-2) in all three sets, 25-21, 25-19, and 15-12.

Although falling to the GCA Eagles, the Qts did manage its first win of the season over sister team KFC Fins, 25-14, 25-15, 12-15.

The KFC Fins is still in search of its first win, however it did manage to win its first set of the season. The boys volleyball season continues from 4pm to 6pm today at MHS. Results of the matches will be released on Monday.
