Lizama was introduced to the American Red Cross in 2003 by a friend. For the last nine years, Lizama has been a board member, providing assistance to the NMI Chapter in his field of expertise. “At first I did not know what Red Cross did…until I became a volunteer,” Lizama said. He enjoys the work he does for ARC, especially during operations like natural disasters or fundraising events, he added. “Being a volunteer means being committed to helping the community,” Lizama said. During his time with the Red Cross, Lizama has co-chaired several successful fundraising events. After serving three consecutive terms, Lizama will be stepping down as a board member. “The Red Cross is an amazing organization that is full of opportunities for people looking to better themselves.”
