Police arrested last week a 30-year-old man who allegedly beat up a girl at residence in China Town.

Aurelio Ray was taken to the Superior Court late Friday afternoon for his initial court appearance on charges of child abuse or neglect, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $5,000 cash.

Police detective Anthony Jude DLG. Alepuyo stated in his report that the minor girl was cleaning the house on Thursday, March 15, when Ray got up from where he was lying down and slapped the girl thrice in the face. The suspect also allegedly scratched her on the face and kicked her on the right arm.

The girl’s mother called 911 for police assistance.

A police officer who responded to the scene noted red marks on the left side of the girl’s face and a slight swelling on the right cheek.
