IP&E donates $1,500 to MMAC

Isla Petroleum & Energy or IP&E, which owns and operates the retail, commercial and distribution of Shell fuel on Saipan, Guam, and Palau, donated $1,500 to the 2012 Marianas March Against Cancer event in April.
IP&E’s donation makes them a major sponsor, a title conferred on corporations that make cash or in-kind donations worth $1,000 to $2,999.
Other major sponsors for MMAC are KKMP, Mobil Oil, Saipan Mayor’s Office, Triple J Saipan, and Younis Art Studio. Title sponsors are Bank of Guam, Delta Air Lines, DFS Saipan, Ltd., IT&E, Joeten Charitable Foundation, Sorensen Media Group Saipan, and TakeCare/FHP.
Catherine Attao-Toves, 2012 MMAC committee chair, said IP&E has been a consistent major sponsor for the annual cancer fundraising event.
“On behalf of the 2012 MMAC committee, we extend our utmost thanks and appreciation to the staff and management of IP&E for their unending support in the fight against cancer,” she added.
The largest cancer fundraising event in the Northern Mariana Islands, MMAC is the signature fundraising activity of the Commonwealth Cancer Association, a volunteer-led, non-profit organization that ensures all funds raised are spent in the CNMI on cancer patient support services, cancer awareness programs, and other cancer-related services.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of MMAC which will be held on April 27 to 28 from 6pm to 6am at the Hopwood Jr. High School field in Chalan Piao.
Attao-Toves is encouraging the entire community to attend the annual event for a night of great food, fun games, and other activities in support of the battle against cancer.
She said there are 15 teams selling luminaries and raffle tickets, among other items, to raise funds for the event.
“Purchase a luminary in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of a loved one who has lost the fight against this dreadful affliction. Or purchase a raffle ticket to win a free ticket to Honolulu or the U.S. mainland courtesy of title sponsor Delta Air Lines, a Samsung smart phone with one-year free service courtesy of title sponsor IT&E, plus other great prizes,” she added.
