One of the five persons, including three women, being accused over the beating of a female cashier and two men at a store in Chalan Kanoa, has entered a guilty plea and was ordered to spend three months in jail.
Mark Rudolph, 22, pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace.
Superior Court associate judge David A. Wiseman accepted Rudolph’s plea agreement and guilty plea.
In his written order issued on Thursday, Wiseman sentenced Rudolph to six months in prison, all suspended except for three months.
Wiseman gave the defendant credit for one month and four days that he already served in jail.
Rudolph was ordered to start serving the jail term at the Department of Corrections on Feb. 2, 2012 at 8am. He is expected to be released on March 29, 2012 at 8am.
After serving the jail term, the defendant will be placed on supervised probation for two years.
Rudolph will be required to submit to an alcohol and drug assessment, and anger management counseling at the Community Guidance Center.
Wiseman ordered the defendant to pay restitution to the victim, Xiaoping Tudela, in an amount to be determined by the court.
The judge required the defendant to pay a $1,050 fine, $25 court assessment fee, plus probation fee.
According to the plea agreement, on Oct. 8, 2011 on Saipan, Rudolph disturbed the peace of Tudela.
The Office of the Attorney General charged Rudolph with assault with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault and battery, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, and attempted robbery.
Rudolph’s co-defendants are Cheroleen Ray, Arinna A. Reiong, Norna Tipingeni, and Anson Sansi.
The incident happened at Dhaka Store along Texas Road in the morning of Aug. 8, 2011.
When a police officer responded to the store, the cashier, Tudela, was lying in a pool of blood on the floor.
Police said the five suspects allegedly started beating up Tudela when the victim confronted Ray for slamming the phone on its console.
Rudolph allegedly tried to open the cash register.
