PDM Promoters cleanup yields 1K lbs of trash
Non-profit organization PDM Promoters, Inc. held its monthly cleanup in Garapan last Saturday, taking out over a thousand pounds of trash.
Thirteen PDM volunteers employed at Kinpachi Restaurant and 14 members of the Saipan Awaodori Team took part in the cleanup, which focused on sweeping the bushes and dried leaves along Beach Road from the fire station to DFS.
The group also took out trash along the drainage from Winchell’s to Fiesta Resort and Spa Saipan.
Saturday’s cleanup hauled a total of 1,080 lbs of trash.
PDM Promoters Inc.’s Sonia Siwa said the group replaced all the trash bags in the trash bins along Paseo de Marianas with new ones, adding to the volume of the trash they collected.
“While the Street Market organizers replaced those trash bins last Thursday night for the street market, they were all filled up again immediately. It is very unfortunate that businesses here consider these bins as something where they can dispose their garbage,” she told Saipan Tribune.
Siwa thanked IT&E for providing trash bags, Dickerson & Quinn for the refreshments of volunteers, and the Division of Environmental Quality for their support.
