Theft at golf course
Crime Stoppers is seeking the community’s assistance for information on a theft incident that occurred at the Marianas Country Club in Marpi.
On Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2011, at about 10am, an elderly Japanese couple in their 60s reported a theft incident that occurred while they were golfing. The tourists were on the 13th hole when they first spotted the suspect walking by the area. The suspect is described as a local male, dark skinned, with long black hair, about 5’7” tall, wearing dark-colored pants, a green polo shirt with blue stripes.
The victims continued playing golf and noticed the suspect following them. At hole No. 15, the suspect approached the victims and spoke Japanese to them. He then jumped onto their golf cart and sped away. The victims chased the suspect who crashed the golf cart in a ditch and escaped into the eastern part of the jungle.
The items stolen was a purse containing a room key, two pairs of sunglasses, and $300 worth of traveler’s checks.
