Saipal, Familia split games
Saipal and Familia punched a win and a loss on their cards as the Chamolinian Softball Association’s 2012 Budweiser Slow Pitch Softball League continued earlier this week at the Capitol Hill Ballfield.
Saipal defeated Familia, 15-9, in the men’s division and Check It Out torched the Rookies, 20-0, in three innings in the women’s matchup last Monday, while back on Wednesday, Familia clipped Managaha, 21-19; Natibu downed Six Pack, 15-4; and the Warriors triumphed over Saipal, 10-7.
Saipan 15, Familia 9[/B]
Saipal trailed, 5-6, after four innings when the top of its lineup gashed Familia with seven runs to start the fifth off a pair of two-run home runs and an RBI double. Familia only responded with a run in the bottom frame.
Saipal then added three more runs in the sixth inning before containing Familia to just two runs in the final stand.
[B]Check It Out 20, Rookies 0 [/B]Check It Out was held to just one run in the opening frame, but then exploded with 10 runs in the second inning followed up with nine more in the third inning for the swift win.
Check It Out cranked out eight hits in the second inning that was capitalized with a three-run inside-the-park homer by Hermina Kelley. Teammate Janet Jones bagged a two-RBI single earlier in the frame.
Check It Out then hammered seven more hits in the third inning that set up a three-run homer by Minami Tadukamo and an RBI triple by Jovie Omar.
The Rookies were stuffed with just two hits in the game and ended up one person short of batting through its lineup before succumbing to the 20-run rule concession.
Check It Out’s Tadukamo batted 3-for-3 with a homer, three RBIs, and two runs. Jones swung 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs, while Omar went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs.
[B]WEDNESDAYFamilia 21, Managaha 19[/B]
Managaha briefly tied it at 9-all in the top of the third inning, but Familia trotted forward, 15-9, in the bottom frame off a three-run homer, an error, and a two-RBI base hit.
Managaha fired back again in the fourth, but Familia managed a 16-15 edge thanks to a double.
Managaha tied it up in the fifth and then skipped ahead, 19-16, in the sixth inning from a three-run blast, but Familia had the last word at the end of regulation and took the match after a three-run walk-off homer.
[B]Natibu 15, Six Pack 4[/B]Natibu doubled up Six Pack, 6-3, after three innings and thundered ahead, 14-3, in the fourth.
Natibu worked around the run needed for an early decision in the top of the fifth inning when Ken Kalen doubled home a runner and its defense held strong in the final stand for a clean mercy rule victory.

Warriors 10, Saipal 7[/B]
The Warriors enjoyed a 5-1 cushion after holding Saipal scoreless in the first three innings.
The Warriors did all of its damage in the opening frame off five hits and a sacrifice fly.
The Warriors then pressed ahead, 7-1, in the top of the fourth inning from a pair of base RBI base rips and then added three more runs to start the sixth, a solo shot, and some early errors.
Saipal’s Greg Iskawa jacked a grand slam in the bottom frame in an effort to turn things around, but the Warriors pulled it together out in the field to secure the win. The Warriors whipped around a wicked 4-5-2-3 double play to end the match.
