Superior Court associate judge Joseph N. Camacho issued yesterday a bench warrant for the arrest of another suspect in a robbery case where the victim, a 65-year-old masseur, was also beaten up.

Camacho issued the bench warrant for Joshua Basaliso after he and his court-appointed counsel failed to appear at yesterday afternoon’s change of plea hearing.

Camacho imposed a $500 cash bail for Basaliso’s temporary release once he is arrested.

Assistant attorney general Eileen Wisor, who appeared at the hearing, recommended the bench warrant.

Basaliso pleaded guilty to assault and battery in October 2011 as part of a plea deal. As part of the agreement, the Office of the Attorney General will recommend a sentence of 90 days that he has already served in jail.

Basaliso testified for the government in the trial of his cousin and co-defendant, Nestor C. Taitano. He admitted beating up and taking the wallet of Chinese national Guoxi Liang in San Antonio on April 2, 2011.

Taitano was acquitted and released.
