A fire of mysterious cause razed to the ground a restaurant at the Teteto Beach on Rota yesterday morning.

A source from Rota disclosed that the fire broke out at 7:10am at the Zarpana Hut, located in a one-story semi-concrete building. A Rota Department of Public Safety personnel confirmed the information.

“It’s a total loss,” said the source who asked not to be identified.

No one was reported injured.

As DPS Rota has no fire truck, the airport’s fire truck responded to the scene.

Less than two weeks ago, the source said, suspects attempted to burn the restaurant but the butane gas failed to ignite.

Since the alleged arson attempt, the owners assigned a security guard to the restaurant.

Yesterday’s fire happened about an hour after the security personnel got off.

The restaurant’s owners are Pedro Dela Cruz, Danny Atalig, Eric Barcinas, and Kelvin Hocog, Saipan Tribune learned.
