MHS bests MHS2 in girls soccer
Marianas High School’s Varsity Lady Dolphins (MHS1) shut out its sister team MHS2, 3-0, in Tuesday’s Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization girls soccer matchup at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
MHS1 midfielder Alodia Lumasag led the Lady Dolphins with two goals late in the first half.
Lumasag drew first blood in the 20th minute and then found the back of the net again in the 30th minute of the opening period.
MHS1 called off the dogs after the break, but MHS1’s Charnessa Lizama nailed in the coffin to lift the Varsity Lady Dolphins, 3-0, with just three minutes left in the game.
MHS1 improved its flawless streak to four, while the school’s junior varsity absorbed its fourth loss thus far.
The season continues today at 4:30pm with the Saipan Southern High School Lady Manta Rays taking on the Lady Ayuyus of Kagman High School.
Both teams share win-loss-draw records of 1-1-1, and stalemated a null draw in their first meeting.
In related news, the MISO postseason double-elimination tournament is approaching and Tinian High School is expected to turn out this year.
MISO organizers are currently working with the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association to see if they can have a representative coach from the visiting Chelsea Football Club visit Tinian.
The visiting coach can offer advice and provide game strategy to Tinian’s novice coaching staff and perhaps conduct a youth clinic to teach the students some fundamental skills and training drills.
The Chelsea Football Club Soccer School is a campus in Hong Kong that serves as a satellite school from the Chelsea Football Club based in Fulhum, West London in England.
The Hong Kong branch stared in 2005 by former soccer pro Leslie George Santos as Santos Soccer Training Limited Hong Kong.
Santos played out a fruitful career in Hong Kong and started the training program upon retirement.
He and his coaching staff underwent an intensive training and coaching education program at the ChelseaFC in England; over 10 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) qualified head and assistant coaches operate the school.
