Accurate information
Dear Mr. DelRosario, You’re candid essay in regards to the physician staff at CHC was not only inaccurate but also very insulting to all of us who have worked very hard and countless hours of unpaid overtime. We are all here by choice. We like the islands and the people and our jobs. We could all take significantly higher paying jobs on the mainland if we wanted. The morale here is down and essays like that make it worse. This facility is in danger of shutting down and/or having a massive staff exodus. Is that what you really want?
Most of us here wish to stay and are working hard toward solutions. Please get your facts right before publishing next time. Sources that are part of the administration are not necessarily accurate, especially in terms of hospital statistics. Most of our administration has very little experience in the field to begin with.
Next time I suggest approaching the medical staff directly if you want accurate information and insight into what is going on at CHC. I also suggest that you never insult our surgeons again. Dr. Yarofilar has been a rock in an unstable environment and many times, has been the only general surgeon on the island, meaning he is on-duty 24/7. As a husband and father of three kids, I would be devastated if we didn’t have a surgeon of his caliber on island in case of emergency. He is a great man and a great surgeon. Shame on you.
