You want know why the CNMI is broke? One major reason is because of government salaries. CUC executive director Abe Malae makes around $180,000 per year and keeps complaining that CUC is broke. CNMI judges make around $120,000 per year. MVA’s managing director Perry Tenorio makes around $80,000 per year. The CNMI Legislature just passed a bill that will give the CNMI attorney general $130,000 per year. Twenty-nine CNMI lawmakers make about $40,000 per year and have an $80,000 annual budget. Some $3,480,000 is how much the CNMI dishes out annually to keep 29 jobs in the Legislature. Where is the shame?
