The January Ace title will be at stake this Sunday when the Refaluwasch Golf Association holds its monthly tournament at the Marianas Country Club in Marpi.

Check-in time is at 11, while tee off is at 12pm.

RGA member who scores better than net 70 will take home the first monthly Ace plum. If the net 70 is unbeaten, new RGA member Kim Soo automatically wins the January title. Soo topped the qualifying tournament held early this month to hold the score to beat for this weekend’s event.

Meanwhile, RGA is still accepting members for an annual fee of $25. Club vice president Jess Wabol said members are eligible to win three major awards at the end of the season. First is the RGA Placido M. Tagabuel Club Championship trophy, which will be contested by the 12 monthly winners for 2012. The club champion also receives $200, free membership for one year, and a free entry to a tournament of his choice (RGA will pay for the entrance fee of the chosen competition).

The two other awards—Sid K. Peter and Tony Taitano—also entitled winners to a free one-year membership to the club. The Sid K. Peter award is given to a member who played the most tournaments in the season, while the Tony Taitano plum is for the golfer with the lowest net score (average) in at least 10 monthly competitions.

For more information, contact RGA president Joe Saures at 483-5508, Wabol at 288-1119, and treasurer/handicap director Sonny Flores at 234-1748.
