Saipan International School (SIS1) and Marianas High School’s (MHS1) varsity squads kept their flawless records intact after the conclusion of Tuesday’s Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization girls volleyball matchups held at the MHS Gymnasium.

The SIS Lady Geckos won last year’s title, while the MHS Lady Dolphins issued the team its only loss in the double elimination final series, and five games into the season, the two teams remain heads and shoulders above the rest of the field.

The Lady Geckos bested Marianas Baptist Academy in all three sets, 25-6, 25-18, and 15-12, while the Lady Dolphins schooled its junior counterparts MHS2, 25-1, 25-17, and 15-9.

Meanwhile, the SIS2 junior Geckos topped Kagman High School Lady Ayuyus, 25-23 and 25-16, although KHS managed to take the finals set, 15-9; the Grace Christian Academy Lady Eagles were gifted a win via a no-show by Saipan Southern High School.

GCA is still lingering behind the frontrunners with its 4-1 win-loss record while SIS2 improved to a 3-2 slate, while MBA, MHS2, and KHS all share identical 1-4 cards.

SSHS (0-5) is expected to finally suit up February, but until then the team will have to absorb the grief.

The season continues today at 4pm with MHS2 set to face GCA on the south court and SSHS scheduled to take on KHS north end.

Then the highly anticipated battle of the two unbeaten squads tips off at 5pm on the south court, while MBA squares off against SIS2 on the north square.
