Island Artist Exhibit set for Jan. 20
The Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture has come up with another exhibit as part of its efforts to promote local artists.
The first Island Artist Exhibit, to be held at the Saipan Grand Hotel lobby in Susupe, is scheduled to open to the public on Jan. 20.
Arts Council executive director Angel S. Hocog said yesterday that registration is now open for the two-month-long exhibit.
“We thank the management and staff of Saipan Grand Hotel for graciously hosting the Island Artist Exhibit, which adds to our list of annual exhibits that promote the works of our gifted artists to the community,” he said.
The Arts Council hosts three major exhibits annually. These are the Women’s Exhibit in March, the Cultural Heritage and Arts Pacifica Exhibit in September, and the Christmas Exhibit in December. All exhibits aim to help local artists display and promote their artwork and find suitable markets for their products.
Interested visual, traditional, and contemporary artists are invited to register for free. Artworks must be submitted to the Arts Council’s office next to the post office on Capital Hill.
“We encourage the public to check out the exhibit and support our artists,” added Hocog.
