The newly elected CNMI-Palauan Community Association Youth Club officers participated in the annual PCA Christmas party on Dec. 17, 2011, by sharing candies, Christmas cards, singing Christmas songs, serving food, and playing volleyball at Loly 4-Chalan Kanoa.

The association followed this up on Dec. 27, 2011, with the distribution of gift baskets (food, drinks, and Christmas cards) to fellow Palauans and individuals with disabilities in the CNMI. They prepared and visited individuals who are homebound and some who are still mobile using assistive technology (wheelchair, walker, crutches, and cane).

Altogether, the association’s officers visited a total of 19 individuals, who gave the youth words of encouragement and wisdom on how to reach their dreams and continue sharing their love for the needy and the sick. The youth group also sang Christmas songs and prayed for these individuals and shared their love with hugs and kisses.

This project was realized with the assistance of PCA youth coordinator Bernice B. Ravell and PCA assistant youth coordinator Linda Cabrera.

The youth officers had quite a learning experience and they enjoyed visiting the elderly. They want this gift distribution project to become an annual event during the holidays. They also want to challenge all the youth to remember and share their love and gifts with the needy.

The youth officers were sworn into office during the CNMI-PCA 17th Independence Day anniversary in early October and cleaned up the Wireless Cemetery on Capital Hill later that month as their first community project.

The association’s youth officers are Vicente “VJ” Cabrera, president; Tyron Ilemelong, vice president; Kaylin Martin, secretary; Godiva Asanuma, treasurer; and Mario Brel, human resource officer.
