The popular Globetrotter Travel guidebook series returns to the Northern Mariana Islands next week to update their coverage of Saipan.

The issue “All About Saipan” will provide 288 pages of details about the destination, including tourist sites, hotels, restaurants, stores, and other island businesses and activities. The 2012 issue, including maps, will be released in April.

Published since 1998, the guidebook distributes 45,000 copies a year to readership in Japan, largely office ladies and young couples with children planning trips abroad.

The Marianas Visitors Authority expects to receive $1.1-million worth of coverage from the guidebook and is assisting the three-person editorial team with securing filming permits.

“With recent and upcoming FAM tours from Japan and Korea this holiday season, the Northern Marianas is going to receive over $2-million in ad exposure,” said MVA marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “That’s a gift we can all be grateful for!”

The visit of Globetrotter Travel comes on the heels of last week’s FAM(iliarization) tour by Japan’s SKY PerfecTV! The television station focused on casino gaming in the Northern Mariana Islands, including the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, and will air four episodes filmed in the islands in March. The estimated ad exposure value is $35,000. (MVA)
