Blue Water Homes expected to be completed in 2013
With the grand opening of Sandy Beach Homes over a week ago, the developer of the Blue Water Homes targets the completion of their project in 2013.
Michael S. Sablan of Blue Water Homes LLC told Saipan Tribune in an interview that they are estimating about a year and half of work to finish the project which is bigger than Sandy Beach Homes.
Blue Water Homes is the second affordable housing project in the CNMI to avail of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program.
The $30-million affordable housing project, which involves the construction of 80 two-, three-, and four-bedroom units in a 98-foot building, was originally planned to be constructed at the Tamat Beach area in Chalan Piao, south of Chalan Kanoa Beach Club.
But Blue Water Homes LLC member and Triple J Triple J Enterprises founder Robert “Bob” Jones officially announced at the Saipan Chamber of Commerce monthly membership meeting in October that the housing project will no longer be constructed in the area because of probate issues.
Sablan said they are eyeing three alternate sites for the housing project, which they have yet to disclose due to ongoing land issues that remain to be addressed.
“Hopefully, we get those issues resolved so we can move forward within the next few months,” added Sablan.
Created through the Tax Reformat of 1986 by the U.S. Congress, LIHTC is the largest and most successful housing program in the nation and is administered in the CNMI by the Northern Marianas Housing Corp.
