Family oriented entertainment
Dear Mrs. Maclay: Thank you for your letter on Monday, Dec. 19, where you talked about the selling of alcohol to minors at our Trench Warz 15: Supremacy event. This is a very serious issue and should definitely not be overlooked.
My team and I have discussed this issue and are steadfast in creating a system for future events to prevent this and will do our best to make sure this incident never happens again if indeed it did. In fact, we will start a zero tolerance effort for proper ID checks and segregation of 21-year-and-older bracket to consume alcohol, perhaps a simple wristband (different color) or tag after determining the person’s age.
Although we try our best to take every precaution and measure to provide a safe environment for our fighters and fans, there are times and certain instances when some things are overlooked. It is our responsibility as promoters and sponsors to work toward a better effort for each event and show in making sure we tighten up any and all loose ends.
As for children attending our show, it is at the discretion of their parents or legal guardians. We do not allow small children to enter if they are not accompanied by an adult. We look at our events as family oriented entertainment. Some people do not feel the same way and if that’s the case, please do not bring your children. MMA is not for everyone and the choice to attend an event is entirely up to the individual. We have already taken part in many anti-bullying campaigns in recent years and have addressed this issue with parents, teachers, and students in the public school system. It’s all about educating people.
Trench Tech has been hosting MMA events like this for over seven years. We have held a total of 32 successful events with over 500 bouts combined. Of the 500 plus bouts, there were never any serious injuries. We have rules and regulations that are set that all competitors and participants must abide by and follow inside and outside of the octagon. This is also due to the fact that we run a zero tolerance effort before, during, and after our events for any competitor who breaks these rules. Our mission statement is: “We Create Friendship through Fighting.”
If there are any issues that we overlook, then we are more than willing to resolve these issues on the spot. Especially during an event. All we need is to be notified and we will take the time to assess and hopefully entertain the problem right then and there.
It is our mission and goal and our desire to continue bringing MMA entertainment to the people of the CNMI for many years to come and we will work effortlessly in making each event better than the one before. With tough times almost accepted as a way of life here because of the bad economy and all, we are happy to do our part in providing a competitive arena and safe haven for all our fighter athletes and fans who enjoy the sport of mixed martial arts and give them a chance to showcase their skills in international goodwill competition. Merry Christmas and Happy New year! Enjoy the rest of 2011!
