Gov. Benigno R. Fitial and Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos, along with acting Commerce secretary Sixto Igisomar, wish to extend their appreciation to the members of the business community who have completed the questionnaires for the Prevailing Wages and Workforce Assessment Study in the midst of striving to meet the deadline for filing CW1 petitions.

This project is a census of prevailing wages paid to employees by all licensed businesses in the CNMI estimated to be close to or more than 2,000. This census will also capture important information on the demographics of the labor force, including but not limited to employee skills, citizenship, and ethnicity as of October 2011.

The first part of this survey, the Prevailing Wages section, is slated to be completed by the end of this month. The Workforce Assessment is projected to be completed in February. The results of the Prevailing Wages will be made available at the Department of Labor while the Workforce Assessment will be made available through publication and through the Department of Commerce’s website at www.commerce.gov.mp

Fitial and Inos continue to encourage the remaining businesses on Saipan, Rota, and Tinian to complete the questionnaires and return them to the enumerators.
