Saipan hosted the wedding ceremony and reception for one of the bright talents handled by talent manager and honorary CNMI tourism ambassador Chiaki Nagumo.

Japanese actor Arthur Kuroda tied the knot with Shiho Miyata in a private ceremony at Hyatt Regency Saipan’s White Sands Chapel on a drizzly Sunday afternoon.

Born in Feb. 1, 1961 in San Francisco, Kuroda began his acting career at the age of 21 when he made his debuted in the television drama “Meiken Goroo no Bouken Viva! Canada.” Since then, Kuroda acted in various television shows and movies.

Kuroda, 50, looked dashing and debonair in his silver suit complemented by a light pink tie while Miyata looked stunning and majestic in her white flowing gown as the two gracefully walked down the aisle bedecked with white roses against a backdrop of the island’s serene waters.

The ceremony, officiated by Pastor Manuel Cabaluna and planned by Watabe Wedding, was attended by a few family members and friends as well as community figures that included Japan Consul Tsutomu Higuchi, Mayor Donald and wife Cecilia Flores, and Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio.

Crew members of TBS, a major television station in Japan, were on Saipan to document the couple’s marital bliss.

Upon their exchange of vows, the newlyweds were greeted with soft cheers from well-wishers who joined them in celebrating the occasion by showering them with flower petals.

Tenorio thanked Mr. Nagumo who was “very instrumental” in having the Japanese couple exchange their wedding vows on Saipan.

“We’re very happy that he was able to bring the couple out to have their wedding here on Saipan,” Tenorio told Saipan Tribune.

The managing director said MVA is working closely with individuals and establishments that can bring the kind of attention that would promote CNMI as a wedding destination, including Watabe Wedding which Tenorio said has a base of people who want to marry offshore.

“This is one way to reach into that… CNMI is an option,” added Tenorio.
