Burglars struck twice Wednesday at a dormitory of the Saipan Community Church and School in Susupe.

Two teachers fell prey to the burglars, who are believed to be the same group that broke into their rooms in the morning and evening, Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.

The Department of Public Safety has yet to release information about the two cases.

A witness said that in the morning incident, the burglars stole one laptop, one underwater camera worth $900, and a wallet with cash and other items. In the nighttime break-in, the suspects ran off with a laptop.

The burglars managed to enter the rooms by destroying the windows at the back of the dormitory.

The witness said that members of the church’s choir were preparing for practice around 7:30pm when they noticed a male teenager in the premises. Some members asked him what he was doing in the area.

As they were talking to the teenager, they heard one of the teachers in the dormitory shouting after seeing a man come out of one of the rooms and jump over the fence.

During the commotion, the teenager seen by choir members also ran toward the beach. The two suspects proceeded to the Sugar Dock area where a third suspect was waiting in a getaway vehicle.

A Visa card, receipts, and other items belonging to one teacher were found scattered at the beachside near Saipan Community Church.

Two police officers responded but failed to catch the burglars.

In July, the house of Saipan Community Church associate pastor Roger Abe, located in the same compound, was also burglarized. Stolen were a black Toshiba satellite laptop, a bag, two wallets, cash, and other items.

Abe and his wife believe that a small boy was possibly used in the burglary as the point of entry was a small hole in the window. No one was arrested in that break-in.
