3 RBC players are top scorers in Guam tourney

Rollers Basketball Club’s Wilfred Francisco, Keolani Rose Rios, and Jun Christopher Fidelino made it on the 2011 Take Care Thanksgiving Hoop Fest’s daily top scorers list after the conclusion of their double-header matches at Guam’s Tamuning Gymnasium.

In addition, RBC’s U12, U14B, U16-U18B, and U16A squads all notched a pair of wins Thursday.

Rollers’ Wilfred Francisco was the top scorer of the day in his Turkey Run’s U14B coed recreation matches, bagging 24 points for a 12-point average in two games.

His teammate Jun Christopher Fidelino averaged six points per game, which was good for third place.

Rios fared well in her two Turkey Fly and Shoot U16-U18B coed recreation matches, tallying a total of 18 points for second place.

Turkey Dash’s U12 coed division RBC Rollers defeated the Mongmong Toto Maite Falcons, 38-13, and then took down the Tamuning Typhoons, 36-23, in their second pairing. Six teams make up the field.

Turkey Run’s U14B recreation division Rollers defeated the Typhoons 1, 32-19, and then bested the Typhoons 2, 38-16. Four teams make up the age group.

Turkey Fly and Shoot’s U16-U18B recreation division Rollers routed the Typhoons, 42-11, and then outlasted the MTM Boy’s Falcons, 29-21. Four teams make up the field.

Meanwhile, Turkey Shoot’s U18 competitive division Rollers absorbed a 36-64 loss to the Typhoons. A total of 11 teams make up the division.

Results of Turkey Run’s 14A competitive division and Turkey Blast’s U25 competitive division were not posted as of press time.

Eight teams make up the U14A class, while the U25 field contains five squads.

Moreover, none of Friday’s results were posted as of press time. However the U12 coed Rollers were set to face off with the Raiders Club in an elimination game. In order to advance to Saturday’s round of games they will also have to make it past the winner between the Inarajan Hawks and Southern Rai.

U14A’s Rollers were the seventh seed in the competitive bracket and faced the second-ranked Typhoons. They would also have to go through the Hawks and the Raiders to advance to Saturday’s round of action.

The sixth seeded U18 Rollers took on the Islanders Club yesterday, while U25’s Rollers squared off against the MTM Falcons.

All recreational division championships and the U14A competitive finals will be held on Sunday, with the U16, U18 and U25 competitive division playoffs running through Friday, Dec. 2.
