Crop insurance program seeks NMI applicants

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency announced yesterday the availability of the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program for the 2012 crop year. This program provides coverage in the event of a natural disaster for all fruit and vegetables crops not covered by traditional crop insurance. A minimum administrative fee of $250 per crop, not to exceed $750 per producer administrative county, not to exceed a total of $1,850 per producer with farming interest in multiple counties will be assessed. Administrative fee will only be accepted by personal check, bank check, or money order.
