A former cashier-underwriter of an insurance company will undergo a jury trial at the Superior Court on 54 criminal charges for allegedly embezzling money from her then employer and forging a credit card charges.

Associate judge David A. Wiseman said that a bench warrant will be issued against Rochelle Mendiola Camacho if she fails to appear at the Oct. 31, 2011, trial.

Wiseman ordered the Office of the Attorney General to inform the court on or before Oct. 27, 2011, if any of the 54 counts are non-jury counts.

The Office of the Attorney General charged Camacho with 17 counts of forgery, seven counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, 10 counts of misuse of credit card, 10 counts of identity theft, and 10 counts of theft by unlawful taking.

An investigator for the White Collar Crimes/Public Corruption Task Force stated in his report that it was the manager of Marianas Insurance Co. Inc. who reported the alleged embezzlement to the Department of Public Safety in October 2009 after the company’s accountant uncovered Camacho’s alleged anomaly.

The investigator said the audit showed that many receipts were altered, cash payments received were under-reported, check payments had no receipts, and credit card holders’ signatures were forged.

The information did not indicate how much amount was involved in the alleged embezzlement. The investigator’s report in 2009, however, indicated that over $13,000 was embezzled.

Camacho also allegedly stole a total of $1,634.10 by forging a credit card belonging to another person and using it to purchase items at different stores on Saipan in 2009.

Camacho has pleaded not guilty.
